Maheshpur (ST) Assembly Constituency, Jharkhand 




Maheshpur assembly constituency is one of the 81 assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand.

Maheshpur comes under the Pakur district and is one of the three constituencies in this district, Other two constituencies are Litipara and Pakur.

It is a part of Rajmahal Lok Sabha Constituency.

This assembly constituency is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. 

This assembly seat was established in 2000. 

The proportion of SC and ST voters are 2.94% and 26.7% respectively.

Out of the total voters, Hindu voters are around 74% and Muslim voters are around 26%.

It is majorly a rural constituency with 100% rural voters.

Stephen Marandi is the elected Member of legislative assembly from Maheshpur constituency of Jharkhand state.

He is a politician associated with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

According to the information given in his election affidavit, his educational qualification is Post-Graduate from Bhagalpur University. 

In the 2019 Jharkhand state assembly elections he won from here by defeating Mistry Soren of BJP. 

He was also elected from this constituency in 2014 elections. 

He is a well known Tribal leader. He served as the Speaker Pro-tem in Jharkhand assembly. 

Earlier he was associated with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
